Overall Republican Party Organization Process (Video) [Click the preceding headline link to view] Putting it all together (4/3/11 updates shown in blue text below) General motivation Aroused conservatives want to take back our country. We realize that starting a third party or voting for nominees in a third party results in loss of votes for the national party whose stated principles are in best accord with conservative principles, the Republican party—and likely aids the other major party.
We want to do whatever we can to ensure that the Republican establishment nominates and energetically supports truly conservative candidates most effectively. The grass roots strength of the Republican Party is the people in its many precincts. These people when well organized can have a very strong influence on how the party is run and who becomes nominated and elected to elective office.
The county chairman and the vice chairman, both elected at the county convention, lead the efforts of the county party. Obviously, it is important that they energetically lead the effort to recruit, promote and support conservative individuals for primaries and general elections. To be most effective this leadership should, in accordance with county party bylaws, within 30 days of its election, establish specified standing committees with their specified detailed duties and reporting responsibilities and meet at intervals with the executive committee to establish goals and plans to implement them.
At the April 2, 2011 Horry County Republican Party county convention, Johnnie Bellamy was elected HCRP chairman, Mike Connett, HCRP vice chairman and Larry Richardson, HCRP state executive committeeman.
S.C. Republican Party State Conventions The next step is the May 7 South Carolina Republican Party State Convention, for which HCRP voting delegates were elected at the county convention. At that convention various state officers will be elected including a South Carolina Republican Party Chairman and at least a First Vice-Chairman. Various resolutions may be voted upon.
That convention shall be recessed "and may be reconvened in the following general election year at the time set by the State Executive Committee to conduct such business as it deems advisable, including nomination of candidates. In presidential election years [next year], the State Convention shall be re-convened to elect a national committeeman and national committeewoman and to elect at-large delegates and alternates to the National Convention. The State Convention may instruct its delegates and alternates to a national convention as to any matters it deems necessary."--SCGOP Rule 7 State Organization (a) State Convention (3)(b)(6)
